As you look over this list of VP hairdos, you can’t help but notice that the styles got so much blander over the years. Guys like Quayle, Gore and Mondale were able to give their ample locks a slight wave and really flaunt their youth. On the other hand, crazy coots like Van Buren, Morton, and Calhoun just rocked their eccentricities. Thomas Jefferson wasn’t the only Vice President with red hair, but he certainly had the most of it! (Sorry, Silent Cal.) Perhaps no other VEEP has taken so much flack for his hair than our current Vice President, Biden, who opted for hair plugs, rather than the horseshoe baldness rocked by VPs like Cheney and Adams. Some VEEPs had sideburns and other VEEPs had bobs. William De Vane King even had curls! Only two of our nation’s vice presidents had notoriously wild facial hair (Morton and Arthur).
