- On his death bed at 8pm on July 3rd, Thomas Jefferson asked his doctor, “Is it the fourth yet?” His doctor replied, “It soon will be.” Seventeen hours later, Jefferson passed away on the 50th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence signing — mere hours before John Adams.
