Congressman Paul Ryan spent last Tuesday in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he encouraged early voting. His afternoon rally took place in front of several thousand people at Automated Conveyor Systems.
Condoleezza Rice campaigned with Paul Ryan in Ohio last week. “We had a discussion about how women are faring in this economy last night,” Ryan said. “Five and a half million women are still struggling for work in this economy — a half million more are unemployed today than when President Obama was sworn in. Twenty-six million women are trapped in poverty today, that’s the highest rate in 17 years.”
While in Ohio, Ryan made a gaffe when he mistook Cleveland Browns player Colt McCoy for Brandon Weeden — even though they look nothing alike. He said he recalled watching him play for Oklahoma, but pointed to the wrong guy. When the error was pointed out, Ryan defended, “You always had your helmet on!”
On Thursday, Ryan spoke in front of 5,000 supporters at the Lee County Sports Complex in south Fort Myers. Fifty-eight-year-old Nancy McDermott was among the first people in line. ”I want to be up close to tell Paul Ryan he’s doing an outstanding job,” she said.
Over the weekend, he made stops in Ocala Town Square, Boca Raton and Daytona Beach, Florida.
