The former Vice President/President attended the 2008 Liberty Medal presentation at the National Constitution Center on Thursday, where former Soviet President Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev received his award. George H.W. Bush, who is also chairman of the board of the Constitution Center, welcomed VIP guests to a reception. Bush himself received this medal in 2006 for his committment to "securing the blessings of liberty to people the world over."
