Bush Wins Henry A. Kissinger Award

The American Academy in Berlin offered former President George HW Bush Sr the Henry A Kissinger Award for his "committment to strengthening the transatlantic community." It seems like ages since the Berlin Wall fell, but to the Academy it was as though it were just yesterday.

"When the Berlin Wall fell, President Bush immediately saw the opportunity and joined Chancellor Kohl to support German unification in the fastest process possible," said Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke, the American Academy Chairman. "No one deserves this honor more than President Bush."

President Bush "has contributed to the elevation of our society not only by his actions but by the quality of his personality," Dr. Kissinger said when presenting the award. "No one outside Germany did more to assist the country during the critical period when the Wall fell and unification became a possibility."

Do you think his son will win any awards twenty years from now?
