John McCain came to swanky Kennebunkport Maine to meet with George H.W. Bush Monday afternoon.
Don't think the former Veep is sharing all the same stresses that his son faces these days. When asked about Obama's Iraq strategy, Bush Sr. smiled and replied, “I don’t follow this day to day anymore. I sit by the ocean and watch the tide come in and go out.”
He did confess that he was "a little jealous" of Obama's big overseas tour -- and that he suspected Obama would get "a warm welcome" in Germany.
Bush also mentioned that he's a strong supporter of McCain and that his "respect for him has no bounds." In fact, Bush is planning a fundraiser to help the McCain camp raise money.
The press was eager to take a much obliged tour around the former VEEP/President's four acre estate, which includes a pool, a gym and a windmill. George also gave Barbara a Smart Car and makes use of several Segway scooters. Bush seemed lonely, missing the spotlight, as he chatted with reporters about suffering from “OA disease” (old age) and about his intention to go skydiving for his 85th birthday next June.
