Quayle Has Obama Envy

Dan Quayle is notorious for unprecedented stupidity heard in sound bites around the world. You can't find a Brit or an Aussie who isn't familiar with Quayle's misspelling of "potato." This time he's flapping his jaw with praise for Obama.

He told reporters last Tuesday, "I don't think anyone saw, including myself, the Barack Obama movement coming. I have a lot of grudging respect for what he did because he beat the Clintons, something we couldn't do in 1992. The Clintons were very convincing in the campaign they ran. So I thought she would be the candidate."

Quayle says he predicted a Clinton vs. Romney showdown. However, he adds that Clinton "made obviously some very tactical mistakes" by underestimating Obama and acting as though she were entitled to the nomination. He says he's rooting for McCain, although admits it's "not a good year to be a Republican."

"Polls show most people want change and change wins a lot of the time," Quayle said. "I hope McCain wins, but to be very fair, he has an uphill battle." To win, McCain will need to communicate a clear vision of what he wants to do as President, since 80% if the people think we're on the wrong track.

Quayle... an Obama fan... who knew?
